Imagine being greeted with song and flasks of rice wine in a traditional Chinese village. Imagine spending a day in the life of a Miao artisan and discovering the stories behind her ancient needlework traditions. Now you can!
Several weeks ago we announced our plans to travel back to Guizhou Province, China, in celebration of the publication of our forthcoming two books: Every Thread a Story and The Secret Language of Miao Embroidery, taking interested travelers to visit the artisans featured in the books. Those plans have become a reality. Our tour, Guizhou, China Journey: Textiles, Village Culture, and More, begins on April 3, 2020. We’ll spend 11 days in Guizhou with an optional 5-day extension stopping in Xi’An to see the terra cotta warriors, and on to Beijing to see the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.

Publisher Linda Ligon, photographer Joe Coca (who will be on hand as photography mentor), and I will be your friendly traveling companions, along with veteran Guizhou travel guide and textile enthusiast, Wang Jun. We only have a few spaces left on this rare travel adventure, so let us know now if you’d like to join us. Email us at info@thrumsbooks.com and we’ll send you all the details.
See you in China!
Karen
